Marriage could be a recognised union between people (spouses) that establishes rights and

obligations between them, additionally as between them and their children, and between them and their in-laws. Before spouse’s may be recognised as a pair, they ought to have done a ceremony( wedding) to grace their marriage and this ceremony makes their marriage special. 2

Today’s generation have a number of their own ideas of a way to make their day special

anything but traditional; however some old traditions never die including a traditional wedding thus makes the marriage styles different from one another. The research conducted here is targeted on the classification of people and this classification is predicated on their wedding styles.

GENERAL BACKGROUND Within this article, the research that was conducted was mainly based university students regardless of their origin. Since marriage is a vital aspect of life, people tend to possess great expectations for their special day and it always celebrated with family, friends and close relations; this makes the marriage style a vital aspect for the individual too. PURPOSE This research was conducted for a few reasons. It absolutely was conducted to know what really pushes or encourages individuals to decide on a selected wedding style for his or her big day ( marriage)

PROCEDURE For the procedure to the present research, a lot was involved in gathering data and information to come to an understanding on how essential marriage styles are to individuals. This involved lots of research gathering and a questionnaire that was distributed and shared around to several students as possible through social media platforms like WhatsApp and also through electronic message. it had been because of this that the discovery was made that, wedding styles are vital and essential for people no matter your country of origin.

RESULTS A lot of research was put upon this matter and it had been discovered that, even before marriage individuals dwell and think on the marriage styles to decide for his their marriage. First of all, it can definitely be said that, wedding styles came from or emerged from the wedding types. This marriage types as we all know are traditional marriage and modern/ Christian marriage. Thus, the wedding styles on the market or of this world are traditional marriage style and modern marriage style. Definitely the individuals (spouses) must select from the two; be it traditional or modern. The marriage styles are even as important because the marriage itself. However, there are instances whereby individuals choose both wedding or marriage styles. to start with, the individual would need to choose a marriage style in keeping with some particular factors. Notable among these factors are country of origin, the culture, family background and financial status. These factors correspond to the individuals getting married ( spouses) especially the bride-to be. In Africa as an example, the culture and family

background of the individual is taken into consideration even before the financial status when it involves the marriage style/ ceremony. 3Unlike Africa, European countries just like the United States of America, the spouses have the freedom to settle on any sort of modern style for their wedding ceremony. However, in Africa, many individuals feel the necessity to settle on both wedding styles for their marriage. 4 A research conducted by five (5) students of Lancaster University Ghana within the foundation department yielded responses of admirable African individuals choosing both marriage styles. Apparently, 98.2% of their respondents opted for both marriage styles or wedding styles. This was because most of the respondents believed that traditional wedding style showcases their place or country of origin and thus shows or displays their cultural heritage that's food, clothing and dancing to the attendees of their wedding. They believe this in a way joins them to a selected society or village and offers them a recognition among their peers, relations and family. The respondents also believed that, the procedures or stages at which they are going through for their traditional wedding teaches them some distinctive values for marriage. Finally, they strongly agreed to the actual fact that, traditional marriage style binds two distinctive families ( probably families of various cultures and origins) together. The feminine respondents specifically believed that during a traditional styled marriage , the potential wife is respected for completing or marrying traditionally. The respondents in the same way were of the view that the, modern style gives them the blessing of the Supreme maker (God) unto their marriage. They also believed that, their marriage would be recognised and accepted by God if only they have a Christian or modern styled wedding. They believed that, the presence of a man of God or priest would inquire more blessings and recognition of their marriage within their Christian society. They were also of the view that, modern styled marriages gives them the opportunity to feel proud and be boastful of their marriage to their acquaintances and relations. The respondents in all agreed to the fact that none of the marriages could replace the other and thus, must co-exist. Interestingly, Africans seems not to be the only ones who loved and believed that the wedding styles must both be practiced. ‘Uniquely African’ which is a book written by James Lealand Cox, an Emeritus Professor of Religious Studies in Scotland ( University of Edinburgh) addresses the fact that, some individuals especially the ‘whites’ (the europeans) adore the African Culture 3 MS Barnes: American Wedding.https://collected.j.cu.edu 4 Kwasi Boafo,Lily Amegashie, Mustapha Joel,Claudia Thompson and Papa Neizer(June,2020).A research on whether traditional marriage is essential in the marriage process of the current era

(especially the dressing, food and dance) and even marry Africans for their values and most importantly to have a feel of the African Culture. However, there seems to be some arguments of few individuals who feel that the standard wedding style or traditional wedding style is quiet expensive. this can be because of the impression that, the culture of the bride- to be permits her to decide on the apparel she desires for her bridesmaids and as well as hers. Also the foods prepared likewise the dancers for the event also are expensive. These individuals believed that such a call for participation can leave the groom penniless after the wedding. As an example in Nigeria, a tribe referred to as the Igbos’ or the Yorubas’ , the bride- to be is permitted to settle on an ashoebi for her traditional wedding alongside that of her bridesmaids. Other individuals also believed that, there was no need for a contemporary or modern styled marriage after that of the traditional setting. They believed that each of the wedding styles were identical since they all concluded to the possibility of the spouses been married. They believed this wedding style to be expensive and an obstruction. However, the marriage styles don't seem to be the identical and both are conducted differently.

CONCLUSION This research has raised plenty of interesting and intriguing points which has caused lots of curiosity. As we are now awake to the marriage styles, will we by an chance know the implications or results of selecting a specific wedding style? Or is there any harm within the rejection of a selected wedding style and opting the other? Also, how well do individuals (spouses) and their families plan physically and psychologically for their marriages taking into consideration the wedding or wedding styles. With all being said, wedding styles are important and essential rather like the massive day ( wedding day) and must be planned in accordance to it day. Also the marriage styles don't replace each other rather they co-exist to create the marriage days of people a special and memorable one.
