Daniel Shin English 100-008 Mr. Olson 4/4/16 Police Officers and Firefighters Firefighters and police officers are both very important to society and have similarities and differences. They both have roles and responsibilities to protect and serve the country they live in. In many cases, police officers have more responsibilities than fire fighter because police officers protect us through national and domestic security. Firefighters and officers may have many great similarities, but officers risk more than firefighters and have it harder for themselves. Officers are constantly on duty and respond to 9-1-1 calls that can endanger or be a potential threat to any officer or their partners. A good example of officers having the risk of losing their lives to responding to calls and protecting the public is going into any dangerous neighborhoods or city areas that may have criminals or hostiles and that can injure or kill the officers. Officers are usually with their families when they can but have the risk of losing their lives to any situation and cause heartaches to their families. Also, officers face higher consequences than firefighters if they are in trouble and can face higher punishment than most firefighters. Most officers can be locked in jail or put on death sentence. Police officers and firefighters have a common goal in the end, they protect the people, and the law. Officers have the responsibilities to protect and serve the law for the people and by the people. Firefighters have the responsibilities to protect and rescue people from burning
