RACE ◊ Race IS a social construct. Race is NOT scientificallybased. ◊ Eugenics was a pseudo-science which purported to legitimise a racial taxonomy. In part, eugenics was “the study of agencies under social control that may improve or impair the racial qualities of future generations, either physically or mentally”. ◊ ‘Race’ manifested in law.

Invasion/Settlement The first fleet arrived in Australia in 1788. Lieutenant Cook had arrived in Australia 18 years earlier and it had been decided that the country was “Terra Nullius” literally “Empty Land”.
