Davita Healthcare Project Questions Chapter 1 1. Provide internal/external environmental reasons for organizations’ need to develop and/or change. 2. Why is an Organizational Development process necessary? Chapter 2 1. In the Comparison of Planned Change Models (Figure 2.1), how does the Lewin change model differ from the Action Research and Positive Model? Why would the Lewin model be less effective in some situations? 2. Explain why there is a need for the review of change initiatives post-intervention? What are the reasons for re-examination? Chapter 5 1. Provide an explanation to the Open Systems Model (Figure 5.1) and explain the importance of the feedback loop at the input, transformation and output segments. 2. Using Figure 5.2 as a guide, explain, in general terms, how the organizational, group and individual level of a business are related in terms of diagnosing the organization. Chapter 6 1. Examine the types and data collection methods and list the positive and negative aspects of each form of information source. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Chapter 8 Effective change management involves the five areas in Figure 8.1. Explain why each area is vital to a successful change management initiative. Chapter 9 In the process of evaluating and institutionalizing change is vital to the success of the change initiative. In Figure 9.2, briefly comment on the importance of each step in the process that leads to a successful institutionalization. Chapter 10 Using the chapter as a guide, explain how you would establish and/or improve interpersonal relations within an organization. Take into consideration the elements of interpersonal relationships, supervisor/subordinate relationships and group relationships. What steps are necessary for success?

Chapter 16 Reductions in Force are typical when a merger between two corporations occurs. What level of personnel will most likely be affected? How should those affected be compensated, if at all? Chapter 18 The merger is a Trans organizational change (chapter 20), but is also transformational as well. Explain how this merger has elements of both and expand on the way in which this merger transforms the new corporation. Chapter 20 Explain in depth the benefit and pitfalls of transorgaizational change. Expand on what is gained and lost in this process....
