I chose task 4. Task 4 is about the relationship between Neil Perry and his father, Mr. Perry. I chose this task because I wanted to reflect and try to understand why Neil kills himself.

Dead Poets Society is a movie that were released in 1989. The movie takes place in a boy`s school, where the grades and the pressure are pretty high. It is about a teacher who tries to teach the boys how to think on their own, and not always follow the rules and the traditions. Neil Perry is one if the students at the school. He is a good student with good grades. He even went to summer school during the summer break. At the start of the movie he really focuses on working and being a good student. He is with his friends and doing their homework. Nothing special. Suddenly a new teacher starts at the school. His name is Mr. Keating. At the start he seems kind of strange.

Later in the movie Neil starts to make some interest about acting. He really wants to be a part of the roleplay with the school, but his farther does not want him to. Neil understands that he is not living his own dream. He is living his father`s. Neil wants to die rather than becoming a doctor. Now, the question is: Who killed Neil Perry? Was it the father or the teacher that encouraged him to follow his dreams? In my opinion: Mr. Perry was the one killing Neil. He did not let his son do what he wants, he only cared about getting high education for his son, because he did not get the opportunity when he was younger. he thinks that his son has the same ambitions as him. But not everyone wants the job where you get paid the most. And if he did not kill himself, I think that he would do it later, because he was not happy. Mr. Keating was just contributing Neil realize it.

I think Dead Poets Society was a good movie. It made me really think about what traditions and pressure from the parents can do to a teenager. It has a sad ending, which make you

think what Neil`s father and Mr. Keating could do different. My conclusion is that Neil`s father killed Neil....
