AWATO...

Description

● Consider the results of the assessment. What results were you expecting? Were you surprised at what careers were recommended? ● Identify how the assessment can help you develop your SMART goals. ● Then, review the list of possible concentrations you looked at in Module One. After taking the assessment, did you add or remove any concentrations from the ones you considered last week? Share how the assessment may have changed your thinking about potential concentrations. I completed the AWATO on assessment at snhu.awato.io/#/quizzes twice because the results initially did not seem in line with what I have done my whole life Medical Practice Management. I was surprised Medical Practice Management scored extremely low. I looked at each careers that I scored the highest, and Case Manager turns out to be completely who I am . As I am writing this I am laughing because my original post was outlining all that was wrong until I pushed my expectations aside and looked at it again. I scored 100% investigative so I am not surprised at all that I scored extremely high as a case worker since I spent my whole life assuring that several of my loved ones were taken care of. From the early age of 22 until the age of 51 I was the sole responsible party for both great grandparent in-laws lived until 95, and 106, my parents that both lived with me with lung cancer until there demise 64, and 82, and my father in-law who did not lived with us, but who I spent the most recent time caring for. Had I been aware that this actually was a career I definitely would of chosen Social Work as my academic path. What I did find odd after testing twice is that I received 0% score in the other areas even though it "diagnosed" me as an ISR-Investigative, Social, and Realistic. I am all of those things for sure so that is certainly spot on. I can't share the % because I don't have them, but I can tell you that I spend many hours a day networking which is a professional form of socializing in order to reach my goals of decreasing the gap in healthcare disparities you pretty much have to connect constantly with like minded people. The R-realistic in this case throws me off a bit, because it contradicts social f you review the definition-Social you like

working with people and not things, where as realistic you like working with things and not people. In actuality I enjoy both. I love building, fixing, tiling, woodwork etc, and I thoroughly enjoy working with like minded people, and those who are not because I love to learn others practices, beliefs, cultures etc. SMART- Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. To be candid I am not sure that the assessment did help me with my SMART goals because the careers that were chosen for me, and this point in my life are not attainable. I certainly could of used the SMART goals evaluate each career choice to determine if my goal of that career was in-fact obtainable. However when I reviewed the concentrations this is where I see the SMART goals being most effective. I am an advocate of SMART goals because it eliminate the clutter in my brain and allows me to focus on what my needs are moving forward for my General Studies degree with a concentration in Cultural Intelligence and Diversity. I have been going to school for 25 years working on a BA degree so now that all the folks mentioned above and my amazing daughter has graduated with a BSRN I can focus on me. Sorry I get off track getting back to the SMART goal technique I will use it to outline exactly what I want, what I have already accomplished, what things are reasonably attainable for me. The focus of what is and what is needed. The assessment bummed me out a bit after completing it I really wish I had the time and ability to come a degree in SW. It totally made me re-evaluate. I did a fair amount of research after doing the assessment hoping there was a possibility of me being able to complete a SW agree and it is not "Realistic". Thank you so much for this exercise....
