Description

DRESS CODE & UNIFORM POLICY FOR STUDENTS Purpose: The purpose of this Dress Code and Uniform Policy is to outline University-level standards in relation to Dress Code / Uniform that must be followed by students of different disciplines on various occasions. It will help all students to contribute to academic ambience and prestige of the University. Lovely Professional University (LPU) wants to prepare its students to get accustomed to professional appearance starting from their student life in the University. Dress Code & Uniform for Students: Distinguished guests, visitors frequently visit the University. Therefore, students must bear in mind that they are projecting the image of the University and they are required to dress up well at all times. Guidelines in relation to the dress code and uniform policy for students are as per the following: Categories: There are majorly two categories as defined below. Category A: This category contains the guidelines that are to be followed by students when they are in campus or participating in any event held inside the University. Sr. No. 1

While attending Placement Drives

Students (both boys and girls) need to wear lab coats while performing practicals in labs/studios for safety purpose or adhere to instructions as given by the concerned HOL/School. Collared, Half/full sleeves shirt with Collared, Half/full sleeves shirt with Formal trousers (preferably in solid formal trousers (preferably in solid colors), colors) or Skirt (straight/ pencil, with Formal shoes in black/ brown. length no shorter than knee length) Sari with half/ one-quarter/threequarter/ full sleeves blouse. Kurta with leggings/ jeggings. Formal scarves tied around neck are permitted. Formal shoes or sandals *Formal Dress Code is not applicable in skills oriented workshops involving hands on activities. While participating in cultural, sports or any other co-curricular event(s) organized by particular Division/ School/ Department, students have to dress up as per the guidelines issued by the concerned Division/School/Department organizing the event. During Placement Drives, students must dress up as per Dress Code Policy issued by Division of Career Services.

Uniform

In order to meet professional requirements, uniform is prescribed in certain Schools for example Hotel Management & Tourism, Physical Education and Law etc. Therefore, students must adhere to the instructions given by their respective School/Department. 6 During Winter, students must wear plain V-neck Cardigans/pullovers, formal coats and long coats or blazers with full sleeves [tie/scarf may be worn too (optional)]. If any Division/School/Department needs the students to be dressed up in a specific way during winter, the same shall be applicable. All other occasions as may be informed from time to time. Category B: This category contains the guidelines that are to be followed by students when they are representing LPU outside the University. Sr. No. 1.

Apart from the above mentioned instructions (Category B Sr.No.1), if an external organization has given certain instructions where a student is supposed to dress up in a specific way, then he/she will adhere to those instructions.

During cultural, sports or any other co- curricular event

Students representing Lovely Professional University in cultural, sports, or any other co-curricular event(s) should dress up as per the requirements of the event as well as the guidelines issued by the concerned Division/School/Department, coordinating for that event. 3. Uniform Students must wear the Uniform as prescribed by the University (wherever applicable) while representing Lovely Professional University (LPU) in events held outside the University. For example: Hotel Management & Tourism, Physical Education, Law, etc. All other occasions as may be informed from time to time. Dos:     

Clothes worn should be well-ironed, clean and appropriate in fit. Students must wear their University ID cards around the neck during university hours. Footwear must be formal, in good condition and polished. Hair, beard and moustache must be trimmed and well groomed. Appropriate attention must be given to personal hygiene.

Don’ts:     

Visible body art/tattoo, or body piercings. Dress/attire with obscene, objectionable language/message/picture/graphics (military, religion, political based or any other). Transparent (see through) or revealing outfits. Other casual wear like kurta-pajama, shorts and casual footwear like slippers, flip flops etc. Excessive makeup and jewellery....
