Week 2 Assignment: Resources Alexis Vorhis ECE313: Collaboration with Parents and Community Professor Christine Tranetzki March 13th 2020

Introduction Resources are available to help! Resources are available for most situations families and education professionals may go through. These resources are filled with useful research, sample assignments or activities, and advice on the issue. Families need to know where they can access these resources and education professionals need to provide these resources. Educational professionals can always learn more from resources as well. Community Resources In every community, there are resources that can help support families. It is important to know where to find them. Not only do these resources help support families, they can also help parents in raising children. These resources can be found online or by a profession who is available to educate and support each family’s needs. As early childhood professionals. It needs to be known what resources are where and how they can help with certain situations. The community resource I have found to be very helpful in several situations is the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. In Ohio, there is an office for Ohio Department of Job and Families services in every county. They can be reached in multiple ways which is convent for everybody. One way is in person. The second way is online. The third way is by phone. This resource is accessible by anybody who needs it. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services offer a wide variety of assistance. This resource offers job services, unemployment, Medicaid, food assistance, cash assistance, child support, protective services, childcare help, and many other services. There is an index from A to Z with all the services they offer. Families can apply for any assistance they may need. This is the website this is commonly used for WIC, food stamps, and daycare vouchers.

This resource can be very helpful to families who are struggling financially and are looking for additional resources. This resource offers several ways for families to get in touch with them. Also, they are very good about helping families find the resources they need if they don’t provide the specific services that are being looked for. Families often find themselves in situations that are detrimental for everyone in the family. However, this resource can help families get back on track. When financial struggles appear, it can affect a child’s education, a parent work ethic, and the development of the family. This resource is great to share with parents who may be financially struggling and prevent burdens upon development. Virtual Resource The best virtual resource for parents is the NAEYC. This website will help families in many situations. The NAEYC focuses on the development and needs of children. The NAEYC offers research on many child developmental situations. This website is available to all parents, teachers, and students who are looking for resources, research, and advice on early childhood development. NAEYC can vary from helping with school lesson planning, developmental stages, and activities children can participate in. The research conducted provides answers for parents whose children may be behind on development or be advance. The NAEYC is a great resource to help families find accredited learning centers for their children. The NAEYC will find local learning centers that accommodate each child. This is a great way to get children enrolled into a learning center that is accredited. The NAEYC also shares program standards. Program standards can help teachers and parents keep students on track with their learning development. The NAEYC is a website located online. Sharing this resource with parents can help them understand what their child should be doing at their age, what they should be learning, and how to gain access to resources they may need.

Virtual Resource for Teachers I have used PBS Learning Media as a resource for almost a year now. PBS offers resources for students, parents, and teachers. PBS Kids is a resource for children. PBS Parents is a resource for parents. PBS Learning Media is for teachers and early childhood professionals. PBS Learning Media provides sample lessons, activities, and educational news. Early childhood professions can use sample lessons when they are struggling to create their own. The site will allow you to filter by age group and subject which is nice when looking for an age appropriate lesson or activity. Also, professionals can use this site to keep up to date with educational news and new trainings. Teachers can always look for advice or suggestions on the classroom based from educational research. It is okay for professions to outsource for resources. There is so many websites and articles that offer educational expertise for questions professionals have. Teachers are able to find resources and share them, finding out which resources are more helpful, (Schunn, 2013). Coworkers can then share these resources in hopes to help someone else out. PBS Learning Media has a free subscription to help teachers organize lessons and activities, create assignments and quizzes, manage classes and assignments, and see state standards. This virtual resource allows teachers to find assistance in the classroom. Conclusion Eventually, all parents, teachers, and students outsource for resources. It is important for everyone to know where they can receive assistance in a situation. Many families struggle financially and are unaware of where to find resources and how toxic the situation can be on the

development of children. Some families deal with unexpected behavior problems, development issues, and health problems. Resources are available for a wide variety of situations.
