Thinh Le Kathryn Wells ENC 1101 October 25, 2019 Education Should Be Free For Everyone Nowadays, USA has so many problems around all the country such as gun shooting, abusing drug and education. Gun shooting, abusing drug depends on the knowledgeable of people, those issues still have their solutions. How about education? What would we expect from education? I think that the answer is about knowledge, degree, independent, leadership and equality, all of these qualities that education can provide for citizens. The USA doesn’t provide a free education for students, moreover; we expect about higher education should be free charge for American citizens. In America, college fees cost about $8,893 per year, high class people can easily afford that amount, but the middle class and under class people cannot pay for that expensive tuition fees for their kids. Free education allow low-salary people an equal opportunity to attend in college and achieve work career as well as the others. Firstly, free education is impossible to deliver a high quality education while no one pays for that education fees, although someone pays for it, someone mustn’t be students, the reason is that the student had better to take care of studying responsibilities instead of financial pressure. Because of that, the payer for education fee will be a taxpayers who already placed their tax money as substantial grants and scholarship for students each year; in my opinion, the government should place the taxpayer’s money in the right place as education fees, and the solution can make it happen is about raising taxes or cut service or welfare in somewhere. According to Human Rights, education is a right. Primary school should be free, we should learn about the United Nations and how to get on with others. Our parents can choose

what we learn. Obviously, education is one of human right, and why do we need to charge students for studying in college? We can see that free education happens in primary school, elementary schools and high school, but we need to pay for college’s tuition fees, and the price of attending is too expensive for someone and low-financial family cannot afford that fees for their kids to study college although their kids are smart and able to study well in college, somehow they don’t have a chance to make it happen. Those people who oppose free higher education says that students still have a student loan, why do we need a free college or something? However, how many students have been struggling with the student loans debt after graduating? And how many years does a student need to work hard everyday to pay off their deb? I guess that nobody can’t give me the answers for those two questions above, let’s imagine that if free college and other higher education happen, graduated students can have a better finance and better life with out a student loan debt and their family won’t have a financial problem while their kids are in college. Moreover, without student loans debt, college graduates are going to have a health insurance and retirement plans for themselves, they can be healthier and live longer because they can save up a large amount of money instead of working like a slave for an unexpected debts. Students are the important person who change the future of the country and can increase our country’s economic. However, student dropout rates rise dramatically, many students drop of school between the ages of sixteen and twenty-four, “ As a matter of fact, nearly 6.2 million students in the U.S between the ages of 16 and 24 in 2007 dropped out of high school, which is more than 16% of all American in that age range” Senior Date Scientist Michael Albada said. That fact shocks a lot of people, none of us have ever thought about a huge number of dropout students. Many students have a lot of reasons to dropout school before they’ll attend it college,

students from a low-income family have so many problems to deal with instead of college, some problems are college’s tuition fees, family’s income, moving around for a job opportunities without college degree… However, the most important aspect is about education fees, many students obviously know that they are not sure about getting a job after college, and they can’t imagine that how they can pay the student loans debt after college. Because of that, our country is wasting of the best resources that this country have never thought about. The US census reported 110.6 million unmarried people over the age of 18 and that’s 45% of the American adult population. Why does America have such a high percentage of single person? The reason is about a lot of graduates students struggle with financial after college, we always think that if we go to college and get a college degree, our life will be so much better than the others, somehow we need to struggle much harder than we have ever thought before, we need to think that how much salary per month we need to pay for our college debts and how long we can pay off that debts. Life would be easy with a college is that what we think about, we think that our college degree would give us so many opportunities to find a good job with a good salary, plausibility is that we will have more pressure with a college degree, and that problem leads to many dropout college student. Because of that, college doesn’t give us better opportunities to live a good life, if college gives us a better life, better opportunities, better life, it would be free for everyone. As I know, knowledge is free for everyone and everyone deserves a right to study without struggling with budget. Otherwise, we want to study higher education than high school, we need to pay, university and master degree are not for low-income family’s children, those things belong to rich family’s children, thus; the benefit of having a good life is for rich students not for poor students, and where is equality that we are always looking for?

To sum up, everyone deserves same educational opportunities, let’s imagine that free college can give students a better life after college without worrying, students can buy house, car and get married before forty years old and live a happy life, moreover; there would be more educated citizens, and those graduates college can contributes to a country effectively without personal problems....
