Description

Interview Questions Everyone Should Expect Tell me about yourself. When you answer, offer a summary of your personality, skills, experience, and work history. Stick with facts that will demonstrate why you are the person for the job.

Why do you want to work here? If you did any research prior to the interview, you can answer this question. Tell the interviewer why you admire the company, its practices, or product. Offer your views on why you are compatible with the company.

What is your greatest weakness? Try to turn a negative into a positive. As examples, wanting to complete projects quickly or doublecheck every item in a spreadsheet can be turned into strengths.  “I knew I could be more organized, so I solved the problem by using a software program that allowed me to keep track of my projects.”  “I like to make sure that my work is perfect, so I tend to perhaps spend a little too much time checking it. I have reached a good balance, however, by setting up a system to ensure everything is done correctly the first time.”  “My tendency is to work on one project at a time, but I have learned to work on many projects simultaneously, which allows me to be more creative and effective in each one.”

What is your greatest strength? The best way to respond is to describe the skills and experience that directly correlate with the job for which you are applying.  “When I am working on a project, I don't want just to meet deadlines. Rather, I prefer to complete the project well ahead of schedule.”  “My time management skills are excellent. I am organized, efficient, and take pride in my work.”  “I have strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve difficult situations. For example, when some of our customers complained about the display in our store window, I resolved the situation by reorganizing our products.”

Why should we hire you for this position? This is one of the most important questions that you will be asked, and you need to make sure that you have a very good answer. Try to be as specific as possible. Explain in detail: why you would make a good employee, why you are the right fit for the job, and what sets you apart from other applicants. Point out your achievements, accomplishments, and applicable experience. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Career Services Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
