FHCE 4051 19 October 2020 End Game: Summary This documentary focuses on palliative care by showcasing how the Zen Hospice Project offers a support system to patients and their families in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Zen Hospice Project helps end of life patients cope with death, dying, and life-after death. Dr. Steve Pentilat, a palliative care specialist, talks to patients about emotional, physical, spiritual, and psychological needs when handling disease and death. This documentary follows Bruce, an underweight man who stopped dialysis, Pat, who has cancer in her womb, and Mitra, who has incurable cancer. Mitra’s Iranian-American family, in particular, is focused on as they battle with coming to terms that she is on her death bed in her mid-forties. At first, Mirta’s family is hesitant to move her to hospice because of the stigma of death that goes along with patients in hospice, but they eventually move her. This family comes to terms with her condition and understands that comfortability and support is all the family can ask from Mitra, which the Zen Hospice Project is wanting to give them. Overall, through communication and support, End Game showcases a small piece of light in the dark tunnel of critically-ill patients and their families through the use of palliative care....
