The best strategic position for the industry I’m in, the tattoo industry would be to provide incentives for customers who frequently get ink done, to ONLY get their tattoos done at tattoo shops in the network I create, which will be a group comprised of the best tattoo shops and artists in America. These incentives would include free and reduced cost tattoos, 100% satisfaction or money back guarantee, and access to the same tattoo artists who are paid top dollar for servicing various celebrities. That way a report is built, and gratification comes from knowing your getting that best of the best to provide your ink. Pricing is a big part of the plan that would need to be addressed, because although you must pay for elite quality, the purpose of the group is to make sure the best quality is available for regular civilians who love tattoos, so prices would need to be affordable. This would be done by making the most extensive tattoo pieces extremely expensive, however charging lower than market value for basic pieces. High quality + Low cost = A barrage of consumers My strategy for trade offs when competing would be to not advertise traditionally, however use social media , and document through the pictures and video the celebrities who get their ink done by artists and shops in our network. If Lebron James or Chris brown say they get their tattoos done by people in our network, millions of people hear about us. And who doesn’t want the same tattoo artists as high profile guys like Lebron and Chris brown who have ink from head to toe? This way we save on advertising costs. And in return, we’ll do some celebrities tattoos free of charge for the promotion....
