Publix Supermarket Spread the Joy
During the holidays families come together to celebrate joy, and that is exactly what this commercial portraits.The speaker of the commercial is the family, mainly the younger daughter, who wants to make cookies for her grandpa. The audience are the consumers watching the commercial. The story being told throughout the entire commercial is that the younger daughter wants to make cookies for someone, the parents assuming “Santa '', but she really was making them for her grandpa. The explicit argument is that she wants to make cookies, but the implicit argument is who she is making them for. The commercial wants you to feel warm and sweet. By making such a sweet and innocent commercial, it makes the consumers want to feel that Publix gives you that same feeling when shopping with them. The entire point of the commercial is to persuade consumers to buy their products from Publix. From the very beginning of the commercial to the end, Pubix uses visual rhetoric through the daughter’s request to make her grandpa cookies, to convince viewers to shop at Publix....
