CASE STUDY(ENT600) 1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the study

In order to find a congruous topic for a case study which key element it is to identify a product that has consequential potential to be innovated, I figured it would be utilizable to study a service that many people require to use. I have selected the best choice for oil and gas services company, KIS in order to create a suitable topic for this case study of ENT600. I take this opportunity to interview KIS by face to face with practicing a new norm. Thus, the analysis is being performed with a delegate of KIS, a company located in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu.

1.2 Purpose of the study

The aim of the case study is to be able to identify any potential defects through methods of a SWOT analysis by interviewing the company representative. This case study will be able to help for analyse the issues and challenges or lack of technology in the business. At the end of this study, the goal is to analyse a large invention principle that can be implemented more smoothly and without any missing aspects. The case study should also consider this matter from both perspectives in order to provide all the necessary information for an effective business strategy.

CASE STUDY(ENT600) 2.4 Technology

Based on my interview, I had witnessed KIS used high-technology machine. The technology they mainly use is Keropok Lekor Forming Machine by AEC product which is easier and faster. With the machine the dough crackers can be formed and cut in the same size. So, they no longer need to knead and carefully trim the dough. The company also uses cashier machine to make it easier to keep the money and can tract or records the amount of money received. Instead of using book to write name and temperature, the company use QR code to facilitate the customers and can tract who come to their company. It is because, in this pandemic, if one of their customers are positive covid19, they can tract the customers easily. Other than that, the company use the refrigerator to store raw materials which is fish. Another refrigerator is used for the “Keropok Frozen’.

2.5 Business, marketing, operational strategy Business

• The company vision is to be able fulfil the customers’ demands and give the best for their customers.

To attract more customer to come at their company, they give discounts to the customers. For example, they provided 15% discount to customer who buy more than 10 items.

• Official Facebook and Instagram -

The company always posts about their company. For example, if they have new menu, they will post in social media to make sure the followers know about it.

Pandemic COVID-19 - Pandemic COIVD-19 considered as threat to the KIS because it will disturb the flow of company operations. The company is required to close their store for a certain period of time. This surely will give a massive impact to the company’s income and resulted in their big losses

Table 5: SWOT Analysis

9

CASE STUDY(ENT600) 4.0 FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION

Based on the analysis of information and data, the main problem faced by the KIS is they have a small number of employees. Therefore, it is quite difficult for them to serve their customers. It is because the government implemented the Movement Control Order (MCO) throughout Malaysia. It has caused many companies unable to operate. KIS also one of the companies affected by this pandemic as it is difficult to find new workers that fulfil the requirement that company want. This may affect the company reputation because when the company did not have enough workers, the process will be late especially while preparing the orders.

Other than that, the problem faced by the company is did not have enough parking space near the company. It makes difficult for customers to park their vehicles. Therefore, the customers are more likely to decide to find another company that can park their cars easier. Pandemic is a problem that we can never solves instantly. Therefore, when this kind of disaster occur, a good operational organization should be more creative and innovative in solving the problem. One of the most effective way to overcome this is the company should make another alternative to sell their product so that their company can be runs as usual and prevent the losses of sales and income. These creative alternatives should be able to solve the company financial threat during the pandemic

10

CASE STUDY(ENT600) 5.0 RECOMMENDATION AND IMPROVEMENT

The main problem of the company is insufficient workers. Therefore, there are some recommendation and improvement for the company in order to improve their business performance. After the company has continued its operations, it is time to start hiring new workers. Doing so will help the company achieve its goals and plans by developing a new organizational structure. They should promote the hiring new employees with the specified criteria through their website, Instagram, twitter, Facebook, MyJobStreet. Besides, the owner of the company can hang a recruitment banner in front of the company so that it is easier for someone to ask something directly. Those will ease them for hired a new employee. Having more employees will allow the company to improve its productivity and provide best services to its customers. Thus, it will generate more income for company.

Another problem that faced by the company is did not have enough parking space. The solution for this issue is the company should provide special parking spaces for KIS customers only. This will facilitate the customers as well as can avoid traffic congestion. Lastly, to wade through Covid-19 pandemic in effect, the company must always be creative and innovative in managing their company’s obstacles in the current time as well as in long period of time. They should have different and various options to overcome their sales and income problems during pandemic. For examples, they can add delivery services to effectively sells their products. They also should promote their products through online platforms such as Instagram and Facebook regularly. Besides, having a high motivation and competitive spirit is also important for an organization to success in the future.

11

CASE STUDY(ENT600) 6.0 CONCLUSION As a conclusion, KIS has effective and unique methods of company’s strategy management in their services for customers. This would make it possible for the company to provide a strong and successful plan to guarantee the loyalty of customers to their services. Therefore, they should start creating a new change of their internal environment so that they can reduce their operational issues. According to the case study I have made, I have found that KIS can improve its business strategy management with efficient operational services, and they could gain influence and trust from the customers. This vision statement is meant to make that a reality by introducing the concept of recruiting more employees so that the services become more effective and quicker.
