ERR BOOKLET Employment Rights and Responsibilities My workplace: Medical Centre How long I have worked there: I have been working at my workplace for 1 year and 3 months. I started October 2016. Hours I work: I work about 30 hours in a week. My main responsibilities: I am responsible for completing Health screening of patients including blood pressure,weight,height and BMI (body mass index). Recording patients ECG’s Checking stock to ensure we have enough equipment and everything is in date. Performing basic wound care with help of another professional. Chaperone for Gynae clinic. Recording patient information. Monitoring fridges in the morning. Ringing patients for nursing telephone services. My contract is for long as my diploma around 18 months, currently I am working around 30 hours. Before I started I did not need attend any training the purpose was on the job training. However I did attend training while being at the surgery such as venipuncture training. Break times: Monday:1pm - 2pm Tuesday:12pm - 2pm Friday:1pm - 2pm

Exemptions from the sex or Race Discrimination Acts that are relevant to

my work are: ( give an example) ……… As health professional it is vital that we follow the Equality Act 2010. This act is about being able to discriminate against an individual with certain characteristics protected by law. This should be able to be justified. For example at surgery if the individual are ex offenders this will affect the individual them not being suitable for the job role. Another reason an individual may not be suitable for the job if they are long term unemployed or not trained for job this would affect the individual being able accepted a role at the surgery.

Am I entitled to time off work for the reasons below and what I should do in each case: Illness ………. Ring up early in the morning. At 8am Seven days without sick note

Medical / dental care ……………. Speak to lead nurse. Couple of hours, these appointment should be made either start of the day or end at work.

The procedure that will follow is: The procedure I would follow is to speak to my manager about the grievance, write a letter or fill a form in regarding the grievance. A formal meeting may need to be arranged.

If I need to report an incident at work I will contact: Manager Lead Nurse Trade Union The procedure that will follow is: Write down about the incident. Making sure that I do have a copy myself. Write in detail such as time,location or any vital information regarding incident. Speak about the incident to my manager

If I am involved in a disciplinary process I will contact: I would contact the manager if I am involved in a disciplinary process. If I feel that the disciplinary process is not being followed I would contact CQC or NHS East Cheshire.

The procedure that will follow is: Writing a letter,speaking in person or telephone. (Arrange meeting) The process is A letter setting out the issue, meeting to discuss the issue then disciplinary decision.

Training and Development Opportunities The training and development opportunities provided for me by my employer are: The training and development opportunities for me is on the job training. Where I would learn task such as health checks and communication skills. Also other training provided for me such as care certificate and venipuncture training. This help me to expand my knowledge and have the opportunity learn more. When I first started I would have monthly reviews. Where the Lead Nurse would go over my strengths and weakness.I do attend nursing meetings where improvements within nursing team will usually be discussed.

This occupation includes: Everything above one page one. When I receive my diploma I would be able to go on further training. Such as being able gibe vitamin b12 and ear care.

It is their duty to make sure that the professionals do not cause any injuries,ill health and death. Nursing and Midwifery council: The role of NMC is to protect and care for patients. All nurses such be aware of NMC code of conduct and bring the professional knowledge to care,such as education,research and working as a team.

General Medical Council: The role of GMC is protect,promote and ensure patients health and wellbeing. It is vital that promote leadership and working as a team. It is also important that they are reporting any concerns to GMC.
