I strongly believe that my ethical perspective in making decisions is process of consequences consideration (teleological perspective). Before most of decisions, I always illustrate the prospective scenarios, and evaluate those to make the best choices – the choices that could be win-win game for me and others and, of course, not violating my core interests. That make me think that my ethical perspective could be the combined of ethical egoism, utilitarianism and altruism with the favor of utilitarianism (could be 80%). My utilitarianism perspective is firmed and strengthen than other teleological ideas because of my background knowledge of international relations study. After various of study in internal and external concept of issues, I tend to make decisions with a vast effect to numbers of people. I always think about all possible scenarios of my decision could affect to it’s objects, subject and environment. The ethical egoism of protecting decision-maker personal interests and altruism of contributing to other benefits also appear in my decision-making process but my priority always is carefully considering of short-term and long-term impacts from my decision to myself, the targets of decision and the general environment. My utilitarianism perspective also appears in my recent decision. Last week, I had selfnominated as the president of Vietnamese Student Associations – A nonprofit organizations under WKU, as well as the leader of it’s core team. I’m the new guy so most of association’s members don’t know about my abilities and experiences in leading organization. The core team has other 3 people, who also want to be elected as the president. They are long-time members that well-known in the association and have experiences in major events of associations. We started planning for the first event and the conflict happen immediately because other core team members think that I give them restrict orders and they can do everything better than me. Because I’m in a weak point of lack information and experience as well as I acknowledge that if

I join this conflict aggressively, the core team could be fragmented and destroyed completely because the nonprofit student mechanism cannot stick members interests effectively. So, estimating the consequences of the decision to join or ignore conflicts could help me protect my weak authority and strengthen it with suitable strategies. My strategy was I chose to ignore all their previous complaints to maintain the peaceful environment as well as kept propose initiatives and contributive ideas to distract them from the conflicts. Of course, the conflicts keep happening in many ideas that I propose and I know that could continue until I give up the leading position. So, I start to confront in some conflicts that I know I could win or at least keep balance with them. I estimated the results of confrontation could be firmed my leading authority, either I win or draw. When my leading power was strengthened and other members could understand my abilities, I empowered the member had the most experiences and enthusiasm in that aspect to get in charge in the aspect that’s not my strength. As a leader, I would stand behind and support them. In some conflicts that everyone has difference perspectives, I could apply my strengths of persuading and communicating skills to involve every member to cope with the conflicts together as a team. Because I knew even we can come to consensus or not, all the team could encourage the mutual understanding and increase social interaction. In general, I strongly believe in the efficiency and safety of utilitarianism perspective in decision-making process. Evaluating and comparing the prospective scenarios to find the beneficial choices for myself and other is my fundamental principle to preserve my ethical values. Considering consequences and estimating the effects of decisions also help me work and lead smoothly when I know what conflict I must win and what ideas I should deny....
