Description

ETHICS – ASSIGNMENT 1. Why are rules important to social being? Rules is considered as a guideline to people. It is essential to social being because it can lead us on doing what is right and enables us to achieve a safe and peaceful environment for everyone.

2. What would happen if there are no rules in our society? If there is no rules in our society, the society would be in chaos. As mentioned above, rules are guidelines that people are supposed to follow as it indicates as the moral principles. If there are no guidelines to follow, people will do anything that they want according to their will because there’s no such rules imposed saying that they should not. The society will be a whole mess. Violence will dominate us because there’s no legal recourse to inscribe for injustice acts.

3. Based on your experience, what rules do you find restricting? List 5 rules that restrict you and why. 

Prioritizing people with higher social class I just feel sad knowing that there are a lot of people who doesn’t receive the same benefits as people with high social class just because they’re lower than them when in fact, they are the ones who needs help the most. Not allowing students to dye their hair In my opinion, dyeing our hair is a form of self-expression and I don’t get why it is restricted in school when it doesn’t even affect our academic performance. Not allowing students to wear any color of shoes and socks except white This is based on my own experiences during my high school days. There’s a rule implemented in our school saying that we are only allowed to wear white shoes and socks. Just like what I mentioned earlier, I don’t think wearing black shoes can affect our academic performance. It is kind of unfair because a lot of students doesn’t have a pair of white shoes and they have to buy for the sake of that not breaking that rule. Students must tie their hair This is kind of the same to the one I mentioned above. This is also a rule implemented in our school during my high school days. All girls are required to tie their hair. If we don’t, our teachers and some officers will scold us. I just don’t feel right about this as letting my hair down is also part of my self-expression. Anti-terror bill I am really against this as it allows police and law enforcement to carry out warrantless arrests. Also, with this rule, even standing up and fighting to what we think is right through a rally can be considered as a terrorism when it is in fact an activism. I just don’t think it is right to uphold human rights. I also think that instead of getting rid of violence, this rule can trigger a lot of people which can result to more violence.

4. What is Ethics? What are the reasons why we should study Ethics? Ethics is defined as a matter of doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong. It is important to study Ethics because it leads to a satisfying and successful life. Being able to determine whether our actions are right or wrong can help us to avoid living a sinful life. Living a life where we are certain that we are doing the right things brings us the best satisfaction we could ever feel. Furthermore, it allows us to cultivate our inner peace for a reason that living a satisfying life helps us to be calmer and more focused. All of these can be a way for us to be more successful in our careers. For example, as a business woman, being ethical is important as it helps them maintain a good reputation and avoid legal and financial issues....
