Description

Topic C: Read and Reflect Everything You Need to Know About Generation Z Generation Z is born and grown up with the current technology, they are digital natives and technology is their identity. Generation Z refers to the youngsters who born after 1995 and they have been raised on the internet and social media and mobile systems. Gen Z tends to be independent, obstinate, pragmatic and hurry all the time. While they want everything, everywhere and urgently, their fashion trends are found worldwide over the web. When listening to generation Z, their vocabulary is interspersed with acronyms that could be unintelligible to other generations (Hedencrona, et al., 2015). In comparison with the Millennial generation, who I belong to, generation Z typically have not a strong relationship with their parents as Millennial generation because of they grow up with the current technology. Therefore, they find the moral values and ethics of their elders out-of-date. As well as, they get all the latest trends, news and stories from social media while older generations get news and stories from traditional media such as TV, radio, newspaper and magazines. They spend as much time on their computers and phones as older generations do watching television. They may tend to value digital communication more than face to face communication so they communicate primarily through social media and images, while Millennials prefer face to face communication and text. However, Millennials tend to be idealistic, Gen Z is more practical. Millennials are interested in collaboration and teamwork, while Gen Z is more independent and competitive. Although Gen Z was grown up during times of great economic insecurity and political instability, thus, they see the future as a bleak future. But they are like any idealistic generation want to change the world and make it a better place and like to be volunteers, Greta Thunberg offers a great example of Gen Z (Young, 2019).
