Chase, R. B., Shankas, R., & Jacobs, F. R. (2018). Operations and Supply Chain Management (15th edition). McGraw Hill/Irwin

Objective: Design of resources planning and operations of a specific demand on a supply chain. Results: The evidence will be presented in two stages. For the first one, you will work in teams to achieve the production of a product. It is important that you take note of the times and processes for the second stage. First stage: The industry Tecmitronik has the following work stations that interact among them to form a production line. Gather in teams to simulate the organization: The main layout is the following:

We have our 3 main process, in the first one we can see ass the operation to get each raw material and the number that is going to get to accomplish an elote well prepared in here we just have to get the cheese ready for the preparation of the product and the cleaning of the corn. In the second main process we can analyze the production, which is the heat of the corn and the join of the corn with a stick when its ready. And the last part in our process, which is the third one it’s the details to the corn, in this case we are going to show an example of a regular corn which have the 3 ingredients and the time that spends each one of them 1. Observe what you need and organize the project to produce 20 final assemblies.

Which were the results? We have a production time of 90 minutes to prepare 20 prepared corn Is the production line balanced? Yes, the production is balanced according to our needs, the tools and the training of the employees How long does it take to elaborate a piece? According to the results, to prepare 1 product it takes 4.5 minutes

Reporte

How long did the process take? As we were saying the whole process takes 90 minutes, which is 1 hour and a half Was there a bottleneck? No, their process is not that kind of complicate and the activities don’t let us do that. What can be improved? Some ways that the employees do all the tasks, because the process is ok, but the times in some activities are showing us an small delate, so according to that we take the decision that we can improve some activities like the heat, the techniques and the ways that they prepare the cream cheese and clean the corn. 2. Apply your proposals and check the exercise, which were the results? Did it improve? Is the production line balanced? The results its that the time is reduced in 15 percent because we reduce 12 minutes Yes, now is improved The production line is balanced now, more, because it was already good but in a company is always good to improve.

Second stage, individual:

3. Now you have an order of 3 lots of 80 pieces each, answer the following:

a. How does your need change? Justify your answers. We take the decision to hire new employee, because in our machines that are involved in the production step have the capacity to achieve the lotes, its only going to take more time, but as the product leaves this step is going to be need to prepared the final details, but if we only have 2 employees here, we are going to waste to much time, but, its going to sound simple, if we add just 1 employee we are going to have 1 lot per employee and its going to be more quick and keeping the quality

Reporte

b. How do the process change for the product? Justify your answer. In the heat of the corn we are going to add 1 pot, this doesn’t change the process in a big way, but it’s going to be useful.

c. Diagram of the production process.

d. Estimated time for each process. A-15 min B-30 min C-20 min D-10 min E-40 min F-10 min G-10 min H- 10 min

I- 10 min J-10 min

4. Using the process diagram complete the following:

a. A critical route analysis with the method CPM or PERT. Justify your answer.

In this case, all the process have their dependant so there is no an union or kind of that so our critical path is going to be ABCDEFGHIJ For a time of 165 minutes

b. A lineal planning of the raw material. Justify your answer. Corn: It is used and the most important ingredient because is the base of everything Mayonnaise: It allows that the following products get well join with the corn Cream Cheese: It decorates and gives a flavor very delicious Chili: It is used to add that flavor that is always in Mexico

c. Analysis of the heuristic method (n Works/1 machinery). Justify your answer.

Reporte

Analyzing this method, as their principles said, more machine to process the raw material in the production process is going to be more useful, and more in this case, because if we add another potcook or 2 in this process according to the requirements is going to be more quick and is going to reduce the times with just 1 potcook, but it is going to be needed to have enough money to invest in this kind of solutions, but the results are going to be awesome

5. Using the information, propose an improvement in the process through line balancing.

a. Which are the processes that must be improved? The adding can be just one because its according to the order b. Which is the new process map? Draw it.

Conclusion As we saw during all the course, an administration of a company is going to be according to how the organize their ideas and what decisions are going to be taken according to that, and this kind of knowledge is going to be very productive in our future to our jobs or any kind of project that we have to analyze in our lives.

Reporte

We saw a lot of information about the planning resources, and plan in general, the importance of planning everything in a company and how that affects the company, not just in money, in times, employees and the quality of our process. So we can say that is important to analyze a planning, the whole steps, specifically, talking about our project, that was the prepared corn, the planning its an useful tool to the decisions that are important and how that decisions affect the process in a positive way. But during this course we though that the most important tool is the critical path, because it’s a ver complete tool, because its shows our process, the whole steps and we can analyze each step very carefully to take care about the ones that have problems and according to that we can develop strategies to reduce that problems or just eliminate them. But the important thing about this tool is how you analyze your process, if you make a good critical path you are going to see clearly your project and take the correct decisions. Sometimes the companies don’t know this strategy that this kind of courses give us so we can go to real world and improve the companies with the knowledge’s gotten in our life. We are sure that with all this tools we are going to be able to analyze a company and give them the results that they need to be better....
