Extended Response plan – step 1 Plan the points you want to make. **Write in dot-points Point/Topic Sentence – this is a statement about what point your paragraph will make. Expansion – this is where you explain the concept in greater detail. You may start with the sentence stem, ‘This is because …’ Example – this is evidence to back up your point. There are levels of examples, the highest level has a quote and a source. Analysis – this is where you demonstrate that you understand your example, and discuss how it supports/connects with the topic sentence. This is possibly the most important part of your response. Link – this is where you sum-up your point, and then introduce your next idea for extended responses.
