Workplace stress can occur when there is a mismatch between the requirements of the role, your capabilities and resources and supports available. It is a normal response to the demands of work. - - Prolonged or excessive job stress can damage the mental health - contribute to the development of anxiety, or depression. - affect your relationships and life outside of work. - increase your risk of injury, fatigue and burnout. - Can result in insomnia and headaches Here are some ways to address stress - Development of a healthy response: exercising, Yoga or any other form of physical activity can help in stress management - Establish boundaries: establishing work-life boundaries can help in reducing work-life conflict and stress that goes with it. - Take breaks: disconnecting with work from time to time or at least once during working hours can relax your mind, enabling to come back for the best performance. -Talk to supervisors: the supervisors must create a work environment that promoted employee’s wellbeing. - Aim for quality sleep: going early to bed and turning off the stressors of the workplace can relax the brain making it effective in stress management.
