Job Analysis on NCTRC website (Print it out?) Ask which of these things do you do on the job... o Job task analysis (on Job Analysis pdf) o Job task domains are used to determine if we meet the TR Process in our internship  At least an hour in each thing for NCTRC to count it Knowledge domains are what is used to write the test o Know what the 6 knowledge areas are for our exam (final) o Assessment- Assessment class o Documentation and implementation- Rehab o Advancement of the profession – Concepts o Some implementation- Rec leadership o Foundational Knowledge- Intro to TR, Clientele, Concepts

The NCTRC Job Analysis usually occurs every five years. It has two purposes. First, it identifies job tasks that represent the TR process (more than APIE in this case); these must be covered during the internship experience. Second, it determines professional knowledge areas/domains that are tested on the NCTRC certification exam. How does the job analysis affect the certification exam? - Make changes to the certification exam according to how people respond Is the job analysis flawed? - Yes! Because, there are a lot of people that are doing TR that are not certified. o If they were competent, they would be certified. - Original study that was completed in order to identify the job task and knowledge areas by Norma Stumbo Preparing for the NCTRC Examination: What test-takers should know. Types of (multiple-choice) questions: Closed stem - One type, where they ask a direct question Sentence completion/open stem Except/NOT format - All of the following are part of the principals of the job except: Item set format - Give you a case and ask several questions about that case o Assessment tool you would lose o What disability the person has based on the symptoms NCTRC does not use “all of the above”, “none of the above”

Difficulty Most questions on the NCTRC examination are knowledge, comprehension, application level questions  Difficulty is somewhat determined by the fact that the certification examination is multiple-choice - Ken would rate it a C in terms of difficulty! Some strategies 

“Always” and “never” are rarely the correct answer - Particularly when you get into human behavior Watch for fiction - Response that you have never heard of, is probably a response that they made up Watch for length of alternatives that are widely disparate - Sometimes the right answer is a lot longer than the other answers or are a lot shorter than the other responses Watch for agreement on sentence completion questions (a/an) Watch for mutually exclusive choices - Sometimes they will make a distinction o What percentage of PWD have jobs... then give you percentages Eliminate responses and narrow your choices The “duh” question, if it seems to obvious, it probably is
