Rivera 1 Janeddie Rivera López Prof. Olivares INGL3011-404 20 December 2017 Fanfiction: The Great Gatsby After Jay Gatsby’s death, Nick Caraway was devastated. He had just realized what he had lost and his true feelings towards what he thought was just a friendship. Nick began to feel things he had never felt before, and became conscious about the real situation; he had feelings for Gatsby. Also, he became aware that his relationship with Jordan wasn’t real, it was just a farce that allowed him to mask his true feelings towards the one he truly loved. The problem was, he couldn’t do anything about it anymore because Gatsby was dead. This fact troubled Nick seriously. Nick moved to another country, tried to carry out a different life style, bought another house, all this just to be far from the memories that reminded him of Jay. After all his efforts of trying to forget him, he realized he was never going to achieve to erase the memory of the man he loved. So, he decided to buy Gatsby’s house and try to live the luxurious life he carried out. After a month of getting everything with the house in order, he decided it was time; time to throw his first big party. He invited everyone Gatsby used to invite. When the people began to arrive, he felt joy because he thought he was living up to Gatsby’s standards. After a while, he began to feel alone and empty. He felt as if he didn’t fit in, and began to think the party and all the drastic measures he took to fulfill his desires were in vain. So, he went to Daisy’s house because she hadn’t come to the party even though he invited her. When he arrives, he sees her sitting in her backyard.

Enters the house and goes straight to where she was. When he

approaches her, he noticed she was crying, and when he asked her why, she told him that she felt

Rivera 2 bad for him because she had noticed that he had feelings for Gatsby all along and that she never got to tell Gatsby her true feelings because she didn’t want Nick to feel bad and rejected. After she told him this, he went straight home and kicked everyone out of his new house. Finally, when everyone left, he felt so sad, he drowned in the pool just to feel a little closer to Gatsby, to feel as if he had died with him....
