Consuming large amounts of sodium may raise the risk of higher blood pressure, while potassium may be a protective factor. How much sodium is in each meal? How much potassium? How do these compare to the recommendations? In the first meal there is 630mg of sodium and 440mg of potassium. Potassium and sodium can work together. With a consumption of 630mg of sodium per day would be considered within a range of 2,300 but the body really needs less than 500 mg of sodium per day. As of potassium 440mg is considered within the range of 2,300 as well. The second meal consists of 780mg of sodium and 490mg these numbers are within range so it isn’t terrible but they could be lowered.
Our society struggles with eating lots of processed carbohydrates with added sugars. Which product has the most sugar per serving & thus likely the most added sugars? The meatless lasagna entree has the most sugars of 10mg while the lean cuisine simple frozen cheese has a total of 3g of sugar and there is no added sugar to either meals. The lean cuisine has the most sugar added overall.
What information is given by the order in which the ingredients area listed? That the greatest amount of ingredients are listed first then smaller amounts at the end. When looking at a label? What information is the most useful to you? The serving size because it determines on how much I’m consuming, whether it is necessary for me to consume more than I think. Which one of these meals fits best into the recommended dietary guidelines? Explain. I would say the lean cuisine entree because they are lower in sodium/potassium as well as saturated fat, saturated fat can be harmful to an individual causing blockages in the artierties to form. So since some of the ingredients are mostly low i would consider this a better option....
