Description

ARNIS PE 7 ll FA research act. ARNIS Arnis is a Filipino combat sport. It was developed and originated by the early indigenous Filipinos around the 1960’s. Remy Amador Presas, a known martial artist was the one who discovered the sport. It’s the national martial sport of the Philippines most particularly known as Eskrima and Kali. Arnis was designed for all kinds of combat styles and weaponry; from hand-tohand use, knives, and other practices, it was specifically created for Filipinos to learn and hone self-defense. Arnis is one of the best protection mechanisms for attackers were prominent back then. It is initially thought in a street-practical approach to cover all potent circumstances (1) double attackers (2) usage of intricate weapons and more. Arnis was so popular because it was pertinent in Filipino identity. This was handed-down and wielded by royal blood itself as they revolted against foreign intruders such as Spain. FACILITY Arnis’ main facility takes place in a protected area. It’s where competition or combat arises. It is square in shape and is within an area of 8 x 8 meters w/ 2 free zones usually 2 meters in size. It has boundary and match lines to cover the base or zone of the players. EQUIPMENT (1) Main Weapon - Baston ; a padded, foam-cushioned stick color coded red and blue. This is used to convey the weapon used by the players. (2) Tracking - Score boards are placed in opposite corners to specify the score of each player. A timer can also be off use. (3) Indicators - Colored flags are used Yellow Flag - Declares the start and end of a performance. Blue Flag - Indicates whether a player should lose control of their weapons. Red Flag - Indicates whether a player should step outside the playing area. Both Flags - Indicates violation. (4) Protection - Required gear and attire : Head Gear Cushion gloves Knee and Elbow Pads Comfortable sleeved shirts and pants...
