The aim of this exercise is to train students to read and comprehend cases, to analyse the decision and extract the ratio descidendi, to appreciate the hierarchy of courts and application of the doctrine of ‘stare decisis’ as well as to have the ability to apply and distinguish cases. It also aims to inculcate legal writing skills.
