Formatting Your Paper in APA APA provides a set of rules for how to format your paper. Here are the basic guidelines:       

Use a Standard Font like Times New Roman, 12 point font (check with your instructor to see if other fonts are okay) 1 inch margins all the way around Double Space Everything Be sure to highlight all text and choose “Remove Space After Paragraph” from the spacing options (the same place you went to for the double space option) Use the TAB key to indent paragraphs ½ inch. In the header, the page number in the top right (you will likely need to change the font here separately.) Include a separate title page and references page.
