Frankenstein

Frankenstein is a novel written in 1818 by Mary Shelley. It can be considered the first science fiction novel. In the first part of Frankenstein we can read the story from Victor’s perspective and what we see is that he shows regret and hate, hate for himself because he created that monster and hate to the creature, because what he wanted was only to prove that he could actually create life from an inanimate body Mary Shelley shows us by the way Victor talks about the creature a “father against son” semantic field. She also plays with the “light an dark” semantic field. The creature is an innocent being, easy to impress and curious because in a way he has just been born and because of that the story shows us that Victor in a tricky way is the evil character. There is a paradox in this part and it is the obsession of Victor with life and the way he only sees death when that life is created. The themes in this part are god complex because they keep referring to religious words. The creature’a loneliness, the rejection that Victor gives the creature, the guidance of what is wrong and what is right....
