Gr.9 English ISU - Daily work diary for Movie Poster: Romeo and Juliet...

Description

English ISU - Daily work diary Friday January 5, 2018 I chose to create a movie poster for the story, Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is a love story so I based it on that. First, I imagined what I wanted my movie poster to look like and the first idea that came to mind was red theatre curtains. I kept this idea in mind and sketched it out on a blank piece of paper. I drew some other ideas that I had for the movie poster until I came to one that I really liked. The rough sketch was of theatre curtains in the background with a sword going through a heart in the middle. There are also vines going around the sword leading up to a rose. I wanted to portray the idea that love led to death in Romeo and Juliet. The curtains show that the story is originally a play. Saturday January 6, 2018 The next day, I sketched out on the rough draft of the poster where I wanted the information about the movie to go. I made sure to include the date the movie is being released and who it is written by. I tried several fonts to write out the information on the poster. I tried bold letters, bubble letters, and cursive writing. I decided to use a font that does not look modern to fit with the story. After completing the rough draft, I started drawing the good copy. I decided to add subtitle to the movie poster to give people more information. I wrote “a tragedy” on the bottom above the release date. Looking it over, I added semi-circles to the curtains at the top to make it seem like it was theatre curtains. Sunday January 7, 2018 Once I finished drawing, I started outlining. I outlined the curtains in black and the heart in red. Then, I proceeded to colour. I coloured the curtains and heart a vivid red and the sword silver. The font was coloured black. After finishing colouring, I looked it over to see if the poster was missing anything. I added more details to the rose vine and a pattern to the sword. I made sure that the movie poster looked well thought out and creative. Finally, I did the finishing touches and wrote my name on it. Done!...
