Summary On Tuesday, March 26th, 2019 08:12 pm a Fanshawe campus security guard John SMITH was dispatched to a silent alarm that was triggered in SC Building room SC 2012. SMITH arrived on scene at 08:22 pm to find a volleyball-sized hole in the glass window; however, the door was locked. SMITH used his Fanshawe swipe card to unlock the door and disarm the alarm. SMITH looked around the room, but other than the broken window nothing appeared to be missing or damaged. SMITH reported to dispatch at 8:25 pm to find out who had the study room booked for that evening. Dispatch transmitted at 8:35 pm that Grant COON a professor for Police Foundations had the study room booked from Monday, March 25th until Friday, March 29th for final projects. SMITH called COON on his cellphone number at 08:45 pm to ask him if he knew anything about the broken window. COON stated that he left Fanshawe at 5:30 pm on Tuesday with the door locked and his laptop on the desk closest to the window at the back of the room. SMITH informed COON that his laptop was not on the desk and appears to be missing. SMITH called 911 at 9:00 pm as per COON’s request and the operator told him that the police were receiving a large number of calls at the moment and would send a couple of officers over in the morning to investigate. SMITH arrived back on campus at 10:00 am when he met COON outside the study room at 10:45 am and six London Police officers arrived at 11:00 am. Officers got SMITH and COON to fill out a witness statement, and then followed up with Fanshawe College to get a statement on the cost of damage. The stolen 2014 MacBook air was valued at $2000, and information is C1480 serial number BZVG19D6CH4T.

Witness Statement: John SMITH ! I am a security guard at Fanshawe College. On the evening of Tuesday March 26th /2019 I was working a 4pm until 12am shift. At 8:12pm I was in T building when dispatched told me a silent alarm that was triggered in SC Building room SC 2012. When I arrived, there was a volleyball size hole in the right-hand glass window. The door was still locked so I needed to use my Fanshawe issued swipe card to enter the room and deactivate the alarm. When I entered the room, I didn’t touch anything just looked around to see if anything was broken or missing and other than the window I didn’t recognize anything out of normal. I called back to dispatch at 8:25pm to find out who was the last person to rent this study room. At 8:35pm they got back to me that Professor Grant COON had the study room booked all week (March 25-29). COON’s phone number was on file and I rang his cell phone at 8:45pm. I informed COON about they broken window and asked if he knew anything about it. He did not but he asked if his laptop was still on the back desk. Which it was not. The laptop was stolen and COON informed me to call the police. At 9:00pm when I called 911 they informed me they were having a busy evening, and to secure the seen for the officer who will arrive in the morning to meet me. I faced the security cameras in the hall to face the door/broken window, and put a gate in front of the door to prevent access. I filled a report for Fanshawe College for the damage of $1000 for the broken window. I printed off the photos of the security camera footage of the room when the man was inside to give to officers when they arrived. At 10:00am this morning I arrived back to wait for the officers, I met with COON outside the SC2012 at 10:45, 15 minutes before the six officers arrived. ! !

Witness Report: Grant COON! On the evening of Tuesday, March, 26/2019 at 8:45 pm I received a phone call from a security guard at the Fanshawe College. He informed me the room I had rented for the week off March 25-29 for my classes presentations was broken into. I left my 2014 MacBook Air in the study room on the back desk closest to the window and it was stolen. I am a Police Foundations Professor at the college and when I left my laptop in the room Monday night it remained untouched, no one ever goes up to the second floor of SC building. At 9:00 pm I had the security call the police to report my stolen laptop, which they were unable to come until the morning due to the overload of calls that evening. Before going to bed last night, I looked up all the information of my laptop to tell the police this morning. C1480 serial number BZVG19D6C and I had no case or scratches on my computer. At 10:45 am I arrived study room SC-2012 to speak to the security guard about what happened. We met the six officers outside the room at 11:00 am. !

Summary of Involvement - Cooper Larche! I arrived on the scene at 1100 on Wednesday, 27 of March 2019 at room SC2012. On the right side of door SC2012, there was a glass window along with a volleyball-sized hole through the window. On the other side of the window, there were several glass shards, along with a blood stain. After analyzing the broken window, I check the recycling where there was a blue piece of gum. In the room was also a garbage can that contained a ‘Canadian Dry’ pop can (355mL), which a surveillance camera captured the offender throwing out. Surveillance shows the offender retrieving the laptop placed in front of a set of windows, as well as, neal down by the TV leaving fingerprints on the screen. While reviewing the surveillance and the room layout, no furniture or objects were moved or removed other than the laptop. The offender is a male, approximately 5’8” and was wearing a brown hat, blue jacket, blue jeans, and yellow runners.! ! !

Summary of Involvement – Danielle Mitchell ! At 1100 hrs on Wednesday March 27, 2019 I arrived on the scene located at 1001 Fanshawe Blvd room SC2012. I briefly spoke to the security guard, John SMITH and got a general idea as to what had happened the night before when the 911 call was made. When I first walked into the scene, I noticed several things immediately; there was a volleyball size hole in the glass to the right of the front door with the broken glass being on the inside of the room in addition to a blood droplet that contained no tail indicating it was made at a 90-degree angle within the glass shards. ! Once inside the room, John SMITH provided me with print outs from the CCTV camera that was located inside the room at the time of the break in. After reviewing the still images, I noticed that the suspect had taken Grant COON’s MacBook, knelt down in front of the television and thrown away a 355 mL can of ‘Canadian Dry’. I then began making my way around the room to see if I could find any further evidence indicating who the suspect was. This is what I found: a 355 mL can of Canadian Dry in the garbage can, two left hand fingerprints located on the television, blue gum in the recycling bin and fingerprints on the inside of the room’s door handle. ! Afterwards, I took a second look at the still images provided by John SMITH and made no further observations, no other furniture or objects were moved or misplaced aside from Grant COON’s MacBook. ! ! !

Summary of Involvement – Jamie-Lee Eckert! On Wednesday, March 7th, 2019, at 1100 Hours, I arrived on the scene at Fanshawe college, 1001 Fanshawe Blvd room SC2012 to a reported break and enter. When I arrived at the scene I met with John SMITH, a security guard for Fanshawe college. I was the main questioning officer, in charge of getting witness statements, victim statement, and find out all background information. Smith began to explain to myself and officer WATT on the scene about the events that took place. I took notes as to what happened from SMITH’s perspective and had him write his witness statement. Upon entry to the room, we were met by Grant COON the victim, at which point officer WATT and myself interviewed the victim. I had COON explain to me what happened and write his victim impact statement. After completing the interview of SMITH and COON, I and my partners did an inspection of the room SC2012 to gather any evidence that was possibly missed and any to confirm the evidence that had already been discovered. After I left the scene I typed up the witness/victim statements, the tombstone information, and summary of all events taken place.

Summary of Involvement – Paige Hagerman! I arrived on the scene at Fanshawe College, room SC2012 (1001 Fanshawe College Blvd) on the 27th of March, a Wednesday at 1100 hours. I first spoke to the security guard, John Smith who informed me that there was a break and enter, and a stolen laptop from the room. We entered the room to investigate further, while my partner interviewed Mr. Coon and Mr. Smith more about the situation. I took measurements of the room, which came to be about 20ft by 12ft, I observed multiple fingerprints left on the surface of the TV, and made note of the possible fingerprints that may have been left behind on the garbage bin, and the door handle. I also observed a 355ml “Canada Dry” pop can left in the trash, and a blue piece of gum in the recycling, both to be taken in as evidence. There was a volleyball sized hole broken into the window, where the suspect may have cut themselves, which led to bleeding on the floor. The blood droplet was perfectly circular, which means it likely fell from above, at a 90-degree angle. The blood will also be taken in for testing. I also obtained photographs from the CCTV footage, which helped create a description of the suspect.!
