Mexico’s geographical features range from swamp to desert, and from tropical lowland jungle to high alpine vegetation. Mexico is a land of extremes, with high mountains and deep canyons in the center of the country, sweeping deserts in the north, and dense rain forests in the south and east. Mexico is a very popular holiday destination due to its great weather and variety when it comes to tourism activities. Tourists can visit beautiful beaches for sunbathing and swimming, visit high mountain ranges for trekking, and explore jungles for spotting wildlife. 2. Mexicans and Filipinos share a few similar customs such as family being one of the most important elements in society, a coming-of- age party to celebrate womanhood (quinceañera and debut), and the concept of inclusiveness and family rooted from Catholic values. Mexicans have their own unique customs such as their belief in making offerings to the souls of their ancestors during the day of the dead. Philippines and Mexico may have similar customs due to the fact that both countries were under Spanish rule at some point and have adapted many practices and traditions from Spain. 3. Chichén Itzá This attraction features feature the country's culture and traditions because it is an exclusive archaeologic site that educated visitors about facts and history of ancient civilization. With origins dating back to the 6th century, this unique archaeological complex, made up of beautiful stepped pyramids, massive temples and magnificent stone structures, is considered the biggest of the ancient Mayan cities located in Mexico, and easily the most prominent among all. While the pyramid was dedicated to the feathered serpent god, it was primarily built to help the Mayans in their continuous astronomical endeavors. It actually acts as a physical calendar, one that perfectly aligns with the sun.

Palacio de Bellas Artese Regarded as one of the most important artistic and cultural museums in the country, this attraction is famous worldwide. It is renowned for Diego Rivera’s murals and the Palacio de Bellas Artes concert. Ciudadela Crafts Market This famous market is full of cultural and traditional offerings from crafts made throughout the country. This is a great place to explore other regions’ culture. Tourists can expect to find stunning examples of Talavera tiles, handmade guitars, rugs, and sombreros. Museum of Modern Art The Museum of Modern Art is one that should certainly be on your itinerary if you are interested in art and culture. In the museum you can expect to see works by such renowned artists as Frida Kahlo and Remedios Varo. Xochimilco This UNESCO World Heritage Site embraces Mexican styles of art and exhibits a Mexican cultural tradition. It is famous for its canals and ‘floating gardens.’ The canal system is a major tourist attraction, but it hints at the city’s Pre-Columbian past. Visitors come to take rides on barges known as trajineras, similar to gondolas but brightly painted in Mexican styles. 4. Roman Catholicism is the dominant faith and deeply culturally pervasive. It is estimated over 80% of the population identifies as Catholic. Many Mexicans see Catholicism as part of their identity, passed on through the family and nation like cultural heritage. Much of Mexican culture revolves around religious values and the church, as well as the concept of family and inclusiveness. There are multiple customs that Mexicans follow in daily life to pay respect. For instance, many Mexicans draw a cross with their hand whenever they pass in front of a church or altar. For the typical Mexican, life is marked by seminal Catholic moments, such as baptism, first communion, confirmation, marriage and extreme unction. 5.
