1 GOVT 3054, JAN –APRIL 2021 GUIDELINES FOR COURSE ASSESSMENTS

Disclaimer: These Assessments are subject to approvals from the various UWI bodies. There will be three Course Assessment as follows   

Individual audio recordings of 5 minutes and group powerpoint slides (due at dates and times stipulated below). Multiple Choice Questions – 30 questions, 30 marks. Take home assignment – one question, four parts over four days - 40 marks.

ASSIGNMENT 1: AUDIO RECORDINGS OF 5 MINUTES AND 10 POWERPOINT SLIDES (Audio recording: 15%, slides: 15%): 30% TOTAL Each Group is expected to prepare 10 slides and each individual student from the group is expected to upload an audio recording of a five minutes presentation on the same slides on specified topics and on specified dates. Students of the particular group must upload the recording and the slides on the same day and time. Recordings should be uploaded to myelearning and emailed to [email protected] by the stipulated date and time (See below). Slides should be uploaded via turnitin to myelearning and emailed with full turnitin report (not the receipt) to [email protected] in both Powerpoint and PDF format by the stipulated date and time (See below). Slides should include a cover slide which is the peer-rating slide with peer-rating table containing name of students, ID number and title of the presentation as well as peerrating grade. This is not counted in the 10 slides. There should be one slide each with introduction, conclusion which are included in the 10 slides. There should also be one slide with references not counted among the 10 slides. The peer-rating form is in slide 1. It should be completed for group powerpoint slides and submitted with the slides as follows Peer Rating Group leaders are to consult with group members to award a mark to each student in the group for participation. Groups must agree on only one mark from 1 to 4 per student. The criteria is as follows 1-Poor 2 - Good 3 - Very Good 4 - Excellent

2 The mark awarded to each student in the group should be inserted in the column labeled “Grade” in a peer-rating table as below in the row with the student's name and ID no. The Group number must be inserted above the table: PEER-RATING TABLE GROUP #

Name and IDs of student preparing the slide/s as header in each slide. Slide 11 – Conclusion. Name and ID of student preparing Conclusion as a header in this slide Slide 12 – References, Chicago Style

ASSIGNMENT 2 - MULTIPLE CHOICE (Tuesday March 23, 2020, 5pm)

Students will be given 30 Multiple Choice questions to complete in 45 minutes via the myelearning quiz portal over a 90 minutes window in keeping with the AQAC guidelines to ensure streamlining and standardization of MCQs across the campus. Please note that no cheating nor collaboration will be tolerated during the exams. ASSIGNMENT 3 - SHORT RESPONSE QUESTION (40%) Students will be required to undertake a take home individual assignment consisting of short responses to one question with four parts covering all four topics over four days (inclusive of download and upload time). Each response carries 10 marks for a total of 40 marks. This question will be released on Thursday April 1st , 2021 at 9am and submitted by Monday April 05 th, 2021 at 9am. Since this already includes additional upload and download time, no extra time will be allowed. Responses should be two sides of one page, 1.5 spacing, typed in Times New Roman, 1 inch margins on four sides. Pages should be numbered and uploaded to myelearning via turnitin and emailed to [email protected] in both word and PDF format with the full turnitin report (not the receipt). Responses for each part of the question should be separated. All sources should be cited in-text eg (John, 2018) as well as in a Bibliography at the end of each response using Chicago style referencing. Marks will be deducted from students who exceed the number of pages and do not adhere to these stipulations.
