Description

LET ME SHOW YOU THE WORLD - SUMMARY In this video, Hans Rosling is using cubes to represent one billion people, white pills to represent millions of dead children, and black pills to represent carbon emissions. He is here arguing that the very rich people, whom children die less than any other “cube” (or billion of people), are producing almost half of the world’s carbon emissions. In my opinion, the connection between rates of population growth, child mortality, and carbon emissions, is the following: billions of people are “arriving” on Earth, and the question is: where are they on the wealth scale? Well, we know from the white pills that the poorest people are the most likely to lose children once born, but they still have a lot more children than the richest people - due to the absence of birth-control methods, and the need to have people working in the family. So, these new billions of people are very likely to be as poor as their parents. Now the link between carbon emissions, population growth, and child mortality, is that thanks to the black pills we can see that the richest people are producing a lot of carbon emissions, and a lot more than any other part of the world. So, we could say is it because of the richer people that the middle-scaled ones and the poorer ones are facing climate change, with all the natural disasters it leads to, as well as polluted air and water. All of this sunk poor people more into poverty and stop middle-scaled people to have proper economic glow-up. Hans Rosling also talks about how the middle-scaled people could have a chance to join the richer people on the level of lifestyles if these richer people start using green energy, and “sharing” other energies instead of using it all for themselves. Rosling thinks the role of the old leading-West is to be a foundation for all these new billions of people to come....
