IT Briefing

The following paper will help the CIO of the prestigious health care organization prepare for a briefing for the IT department. This health care organization will be expanding and adding departments within the organization such as a teaching hospital, the radiology outpatient clinic and, a home health agency. This briefing will help explain what they need to do in order for everything to come together on a delivery system that will benefit all departments and the health care organization as a whole. Servers Each department will need a server operations department for it to run smoothly and make all of the jobs easier. This will also help in implementing and expanding all the departments so that they can all work off the same system. The servers will help in processing the data that is entered from each department so that it can be viewed by the entire organization twenty four hours a day (“IT Business Edge”, 2015). This will help in this health care organization becoming more efficient with the work that they will be doing. All Entities With this health care organization expanding they will be adding a few more entities and it would help out if they came together so that their new information system can be combined together as much as possible. The help desk can be combined so that they can have one help desk that will serve all departments within the health care organization. With the application programming department they may need to have some of the departments separate depending on the types of applications that they will need. This can be determined by having a meeting with the heads of each department and having their needs figured out and presented. After that is done they will be able to figure out which application programming departments can work

together. The desktop services, interface development department and, network operations department can all be combined to serve all of the different entities within the health care organization. Onsite Functions There will be some onsite functions at each facility. While the Help Desk will have a toll free number where a live person can be reached to help with any problems that an employee may have with the system there will also be a Help Desk employee onsite at each facility. This will help in being to help the person face to face and if there are any issues that cannot be corrected over the phone. This will make it more efficient for the organization and the different entities that will be within this organization. The network operations department will also need to be onsite at the main facility as it will be able to monitor everything from one room within the facility. The network operations department will be there to make sure that the new system that is implemented into all of the entities will be monitored and managed in case any software issues should happen to arise (“TechTarget”, 2015). They will be able to watch the networks that are running on each system within each entity and it can be supervised by this room being onsite at the main facility. There would not need to be a network operations department at all of the entities as this can all be controlled from one onsite place. Consolidation There can be some consolidation to be considered in order to help cut down the costs of delivery of the implementation of a new system delivery. This can help in the system delivery and help improve the way it is operated. By consolidating the different entities will be sharing the services within the health care organization. In order for it to be the most efficient for the health care organization the departments that should consolidate would be the applications

programming department and the interface development department. Also the help desk department and the network operations department would be efficient if they consolidated with each other. Risks and Benefits When a health care organization is implementing a new system delivery for the organization there are always risks that will be involved with it. It is how the risks are handled that will make the difference. What will happen is that a plan will be determined in order to overcome any risks that may arise with this new system development in the health care organization. There will be strong security for the project from the beginning to the end so that there will not be any security risks associated with it or they will be caught right when they happen. The benefits will outweigh any risks that may be associated. The benefits will be that it will lower the cost and make the system more efficient helping the health care organization. All departments will have access to the new system and will be able to enter their data so that it is shared throughout the health care organization within the same applications. By adding these different health care entities to the health care organization it will help in continuing the growth of the organization. The best part of implementing a new system for the entities is that they will be able to offer better quality of care to their patients.
