This scene relates to the concept of salience because Katherine Goble was put in a situation where she had to verify Glenn’s Go/No-go in other for Glenn to go to space. Therefore, so much weight was attached to Katherine Goble. On the other hand, another scene in the movie that illustrates uncertainty avoidance was when Paul was trying to avoid Katherine Goble from entering the Pentagon briefing because she did not have clearance. Al allowed Katherine Goble to attend the Pentagon briefings because she could not figure out the data, capsule, the weight, and the landing zone. Therefore, Al had to change the rules for Katherine Goble to attend the Pentagon briefing because he is the boss. Moreover, a scene in the movie that illustrates collective culture was when Mrs. Vaughan declined the offer from Mrs. Mitchell to work with the engineering group at the IBM alone unless she brings her ladies with her. This scene relates to the concept of collective culture because Mrs. Vaughan focused on the welfare of the group, rather than been concerned about her promotion. In other words, Mrs. Vaughan preferred to work with her collective group of ladies. Finally, a scene in the movie that illustrates stereotyping was when Katherine Goble and Jim Johnson were taking at the picnic. However, when Katherine told Jim about her mission at NASA, Jim laugh at her and said: “They let women handle that sort of…” This scene relates to the concept of stereotyping because Jim categorized Katherine as a woman who cannot handle the work they do at NASA.
