HIS 100 Multimedia Presentation Planning Worksheet Part 1: Brainstorming Instructions: Brainstorm your thoughts on each question in preparation for creating an outline of your multimedia presentation, including specific examples as appropriate. State three historical lenses that could be applied to your topic and explain how each lens can be applied.

Describe how one of the lenses you just identified might change how the Historical Context and Introduction you previously submitted in Project 2 were written.

Discuss the conclusions you can draw from thinking about how history is told. Consider how historians are persuaded by their own biases, motivations, and influences of their time.

Describe how your research of a historical topic can help you understand contemporary issues, and try to list at least two related contemporary issues

Economic Lens: An economic lens can be used as the events that led to the drafting of the constitution is heavily economically based

Looking at the drafting of the U.S. Constitution through a political lens would change the historical context from viewing the event through an economic lens. Viewing the drafting of the constitution through a political lens would bring to light the differences between local and federal government amongst the new states. There was also a large deviation between political structures of the states under the articles of

The primary bias amongst all documented history is “history is written by the winners”. If historians only view direct facts related to an event, not someone’s opinion on the event being researched there would be a lot less bias. Historians are people, people have biases that are natural to how they were raised. The time period that history is being reviewed also can sway as it can add outside biases to work being generated.

Research of a historical topic can be used to understand contemporary issues because, as the saying goes, “History repeats itself”. Many times, the simplest solutions to problems and questions are ones that we have already viewed.

Political Lens: the drafting of the U.S. Constitution was a direct response to political changes brought on after the revolutionary war. Military Lens: a military lens could be used because uniting the distant states would help to strengthen the nation’s military after

An issue that comes to mind when reviewing the drafting of the U.S. Constitution is whether security is a good trade for freedom. Reviewing how the founding fathers saw freedom would give a wise

After taking this course, what do you think about the statement “history repeats itself”? Do you think this is accurate? What information from the course guides you to this conclusion? As I said in my previous statement I believe in this statement. Using a historical lens to view events in history and trying to apply the solutions from the past to the problems of the future is often the easiest path forward to modern issues.

Discuss your obligation as a citizen of your society to understand the history behind issues that impact you every day.

It is my obligation as a citizen to not take issues within society at face value. All issues need to have context and all issues has some history of their own. If we don’t understand where the roots of an issue comes from then we have no way to understand the solutions that it needs.

solution to this question.

Part 2: Outline Instructions: Create a plan for your presentation. You will need to create 10 to 12 slides that respond to the critical elements in the Project 3 Rubric. (If you are using Microsoft Word, your multimedia presentation should be 4 to 5 pages long.) The slide title suggestions are provided to help you develop your presentation. The field for slide text is a place for you to develop your ideas for your presentation’s content, drawing from Part 1. The field for slide visuals and audio ideas is a place to develop ideas for visuals and audio elements that can enhance your presentation and engage your audience. As you develop your ideas, you are encouraged to provide details as to how you will use these elements to engage your audience.
