The three historical lenses were applied to the topic of Apartheid in south Africa which is Social, Economic, and Political lens.

The three historical lenses provided an opportunity to understand what happened during the event of South African apartheid. The overlapping between all three historical lenses provides a beautiful understanding as to how the system of apartheid was able to remain there for over forty years. There could be many conclusions about how history is told. History teaches us about many valuable lessons and about human nature through the activities in present and events of the past. History also adds value by offering people and society an opportunity to be able to see how past events becomes a learning lesson for everyone in their present. Sometimes historians formulate theories to fit the evidence instead of looking for facts to fit the evidence.

My research for the historical topic helped me understand the issues on today’s world and of past. Also, I learned when you can understand the roots and sources of a problem then there is a much better chance of solving the matter.

The Social Lens could be used to view how during the Apartheid many lives of colored children and families were affected. Apartheid in South Africa consists of racism, poverty, and violence. White south Africans were living better compare to how blacks South Africans were suffering in workplace, schools and in the

After taking this course, what is your opinion about the statement “history repeats itself”? Do you think this is accurate? What information from the course guides you to this conclusion? My opinion about the statement “history repeats itself” is extremely accurate. In today’s world we still have the issue of racism and people’s right are still being violated and tested to point when a person commit crime or do something that he/she would not do if they were not pinned down to that point when the society and people around makes that person do something which is unacceptable for anyone. The examples and

Discuss your obligation as a citizen of your society to understand the history behind issues that impact you every day. (Note that this does not specifically have to relate to your topic). Yes, citizens should learn about the society to understand the history better. It is important to have knowledge of the past which provides you with the ability to make better decisions and yet, you will know when, where and how to act if any kind of challenge comes up.

psychological disorders and generation of unstable children may be the result. Also, black employees had limited job options because the job position were reserved for whites first. Moreover, mixed marriages between whites and black people were prohibited. The economic lens can be used as how during apartheid labor market policies, such as job reservation created a migrant labor system which resulted in shortage of skilled labor and highly cost for training unskilled labor. The political lens could be view as the population registration Act demanded that the people must be registered according to their race groups. The Act of 1950 started physical separation between races by the government which officially divided the country’s population

society. Some examples would be racial discrimination and the human rights.

information from this course lead me to that conflicts from past seem to repeat itself often and I learned the present is built from the past. I think people should rediscover their own truth.

into groups of whites, blacks, and Asians.
