Description

HIS 100 Research Plan Preparation Worksheet Prompt: Applying what you’ve learned about narrowing research questions, revise your research questions from your Topic Exploration Worksheet. In the tables below, replace the bracketed text with the original question, the revised version of that question, and one to two sentences explaining how you approached your revisions for that question to give your instructor insight on your revision process. Then, answer the questions about your primary sources below the tables by replacing the bracketed text with the relevant information.

Research Question 1 Original Question How did apartheid affect people's lives in South Africa?

Revised Question What part did Nelson Mandela play in enacting change for the people of South africa?

For this question I wanted to revise because Nelson Mandela's involvement played a role in impacting people's lives in South africa. I wanted to include how his role affected the lives of South africa. By focusing on Nelson Mandela's involvement, it helped me narrow down my original research question.

Research Question 2 Original Question How did apartheid affect South African education?

Revised Question How did the apartheid affect south African education for non white citizens?

With this question, I noticed it was a little broad. In order to narrow it down I took steps to specifically focus on the non white community when revising. By doing this, it made my question more specific and remained answerable.
