1. Applying what you have learned about comparing primary sources and analyzing secondary sources, revisit the primary sources you listed in Part 3 of your Topic Exploration Worksheet, list them below, and describe what each of these sources adds to your understanding of your selected topic. 1. Name of primary source: The Constitutional Convention: A Narrative History from the Notes of James Madison Author: Authors James Madison, Edward J. Larson, Michael P. Winship. Hyperlink: https://ezproxy.snhu.edu/login?url=https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=nlebk&AN=727536&site=edslive&scope=site&ebv=EK&ppid=Page-__-1 What this source adds to your understanding of your selected topic: This source turned out to be a good primary source. After reading this source it became clearer to me that the participation from all the states was 1

one of the issues that was encountered early on. This was eventually overcome but was replaced with other issues including the delegates not trusting each other to not be power hungry. The article portrays the rough road that the delegates traveled to arrive at the end with what is now the U.S. Constitution. 2. Name of primary source: Magna Carta Author: John, King of England, Stephen Langton Hyperlink: https://www.archives.gov/exhibits/featured-documents/magna-carta What this source adds to your understanding of your selected topic: This article presents the Magna Carta which was referenced while writing the U.S. Constitution. This is a good primary source because of its history and its relevance for the time. The Magna Carta was an important document in Britain because of who wrote it and how it laid out that the law was for everyone to follow not just the working class. Our Constitution was partially based off of the Magna Carta and while reading our Constitution there are statements which have been pulled, for example our fifth amendment states that there will be due process for all people prior to punishment being delivered. Another similarity is the freedom of religion that is referenced in both the Magna Carta and the U.S. Constitution.
