In the modern business world, understanding human behavior is one of the major priorities for every organization. One of the factors that every business owner or manager needs to understand is the factors that will contribute to motivated employees in the organization. Zappos is an online shopping website dealing with shoes. The business offices are located in Las Vegas. According to Brain Rooney, Zappos is doing with the shoes what Amazon did with books. The company has over 1000 brands of different sizes and with more than 4 million pairs of shoes. Employee motivation is one of the factors contributing to significant growth of Zappos. The company founder Tony Hsieh is use organization culture as a mechanism for motivating employee. The company has the best company culture which creates a family atmosphere hence making employee motivated. Hsieh created a company where all employees love to work and their customers love doing business with them.. The second techniques used by Zapppos to motivate the employees are the compensation. Currently, some of the employees at the call center earn more that the business owner and this means that the employees are well motivated by being compensated effectively. Other mechanisms used by Zappos to motivate employees include giving free food and snacks at the cafeteria. People working in organization tend to spend huge sums of money on food. However, by providing food and snack, the company has managed to cut the employees daily expenses. Lastly, with the cost of health in United States rising every day, Zappos has used the opportunity to motivate their employees where the company pays 100% dental and medical benefits. Because of motivated and passionate employees, the company made a 5% profit last year.
