HOW TO: Use MSU’s VDI for ACC 300 Financial Statement Technology Project What is it?  MSU’s Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) delivers a desktop image (icons, folders, toolbars, software, etc.) to an authenticated user remotely over a network.  Provides instructors and students access to university licensed software and labs as if these were stored locally on your computer.  Watch this 1:25 minute video to see why “You Better Get Going Kyle” at https://tech.msu.edu/technology/virtual-desktop How to log onto VDI?  Go to https://vdi.msu.edu If it gets stuck on loading, just refresh.  Type in your MSU NetID and password o Be sure you have changed your password within the last 12 months. To change your ID, go to https://netid.msu.edu or call MSU IT 517-432-6200.  Where it says “RADIUS passcode” either: o enter “PUSH” if you set up SMS text messaging to get a security code, or o enter the security code from your VIP app (note: add the VIP app to your phone) To get into Alteryx,  Click on BCOB_Acct, Horizon, then Open Alteryx Designer 2020.2  Enter License Designer Only, Activate, if asked, then Close.  Verify that you are in the VDI, do you see two Status (Navigation) bars at the bottom?  If you are in Alteryx, you will see the Workflow Area in the large whitespace in the center right, the Configuration Area to the left of that and the Results area just below the Workflow Area. There is a Tool Bar just above the Configuration and Workflow Area. How to Upload a File onto Alteryx:  Put the Excel file you want to access in the Alteryx VDI space, either by: o accessing the files from MSU OneDrive, or o emailing the files to yourself and going to your email website and opening that email and saving the Excel file to the VDI desktop.  Open Aleryx.  Use the “Input Data” command in Alteryx (at the far left) and retrieve the file with which you will work.
