How to write a comment

Parts of the text with tips: 1. Introduction (Introductory sentence and main idea). • • •

Write a clear thesis and state your opinion clearly right from the start. Start with a short introductory sentence and do not start directly with “I think…” or “I am convinced…”. Do not end your introductory paragraph with a rhetorical question but with your opinion of the main part.

2. Main part (Supporting ideas and concluding, rounding-off statement) •

Present your thesis right at the end of the introductory paragraph, not at the beginning of the main part!

3. Conclusion • •

Do not introduce any new ideas at the end. Refer back to the introduction if possible. Your conclusion should link logically to the arguments in the main part.

Writing Tips in General • • • • • • • •

This is PLAGIARISM and it’s a serious offence and will lead to a failing grade! Use transition signals and phrases such as “I believe; in my opinion; …” but avoid addressing the reader directly. Do not use ‘you’....
