Brian Salvati ENG-122 Assignment 1-7 1. Some Lessons From The Assembly Line. By: Braaksma, Andrew 2. From the initial reading on the article, I believe the authors purpose is to inform that he worked long hours for a small amount of money, He was excited to go back to school to eventually make more money while not working 12 hour days in a factory. Also, how downsizing and lay offs effect people without degrees in areas that are not growing. 3. Some of the key points that stood out to me was the he understood the value of time, knowledge, and work much more compared to classmates who never had a job. Classmates would complain about an early class, whereas the author was more than happy to have an early class vs. working in the factory. The second point that stood out was talking about layoffs and companies relocating overseas. This effects everyone, but mostly workers in factories. 4. I believe the authors audience is high school students or even adults who are thinking of going to college to further their education. One of the challenges I could see is maybe the reader has family that have been very successful without going to college so they may not see the worth in paying for an education if their family did not....
