A.

Introduction Library can be defined as a place or building that houses a collection of books and other printed or non-printed materials to organize and maintain for use such as reading, consultation, study and research. The materials are organized or arranged according to establish standard and thereby made readily identifiable and retrievable. Moreover, the activities include descriptive cataloguing, subject cataloguing, classification, indexing and abstracting. In addition, cataloguing is an act as inventory of the collection in the library which is to provide a record what is owned by a library and also known as a shelflist containing one copy of each record in a catalogue shall arrange in the order in which information sources are placed on the shelf. Besides, the librarian needs to use catalogue to perform their duties such as for collection development to discover what library has already owns or does not. Furthermore, descriptive cataloguing is one of the main subjects in this course. Descriptive cataloguing can be defined as the process of identifying and describing the physical form of an item which determined the name and title that will be used as access points and recording these data in a bibliographic record. It also enables the user to find and identify book by the name of the author and title. The code that is used for descriptive cataloguing in this subject is AACR2. AACR2 is responsible to provide rules for the formulation of standard forms of names and titles to provide access to and grouping of those descriptions.
