Action/Purpose Action: Immune globulins provide passive immunization to infectious diseases by providing antibodies. Result in endogenous production of antibodies. Active immunization with vaccine or toxoids produce prolonged immunity. Purpose: Provide immunity to infectious diseases

Nursing Interventions Pre Med Administration: 1. Check for any previous history of allergic reaction to the vaccine or vaccine components. 2. Live Vaccine (FluMist) should not be administered to pregnant women, chronic pulmonary, cardio, renal, healthcare, neurological, or hematologic, or metabolic disorders. (This isn't currently being used) Post Med Administration: 1. Monitor for any allergic reaction after the vaccine
