Visual Paradigm is a CASE-tool supporting UML, ERD, and a lot of other diagrams. It exists in different versions. We’ll use the free Community Edition (CE) in this course. Description 1 Download Visual Paradigm Community Edition

Surf to https://www.visual-paradigm.com/download/community.jsp and download the most recent version of Visual Paradigm CE. !!! Download the Community Edition, which is free for non-commercial use and has no expiration date !!!

2 Installation Execute the downloaded Visual_Paradigm_CE_15_0_20180401_Win64.exe).

3 Start If you start Visual Paradigm, a dialog box appears to select a workspace. (A workspace is the default directory where Visual Paradigm stores all projects, which includes diagrams.) It’s ok to use the default workspace if you have write- and readpermissions on this folder.

The first time you start Visual Paradigm, you can take a look if you like :

If you finish your tour, the screen looks like this (version 16.1):

Push on the link « create one » to create a new diagram.

Typ ERD in the text box and click the Next button.

We’ll start from a blank diagram. Click the Next button.

In the next dialog window, enter a project name and press the OK button:
