Remote Desktop Web Access (RDweb) Quick Start Guide For Mac Users
1. Download and Install Microsoft Remote Desktop on your Mac 1.1 Open the App Store on your Mac. Browse or search for the latest version of "Microsoft Remote Desktop" (e.g. version 10.2.4). If it has not been installed, please download and install the software on your Mac. 1.2 Run the Microsoft Remote Desktop application you just installed. 1.3 Select Preferences.

1.4 Under the General tab, in the “folder redirection” section, click on the dropdown arrow. Select “Choose Folder”.
1.5 Select the local computer’s Desktop folder and click Choose. This will be the location you will be saving your data files.

1.6 Close Microsoft Remote Desktop Preferences. Note: The following shows the common problem encountered by some students before they installed the “Microsoft Remote Desktop” program on their MacBook’s. It is because the “Remote Desktop Connection for Mac” might not be compatible with the RDP file created by Microsoft for our course.) If this is encountered, download the latest Microsoft Remote Desktop version 10.2.4.
2. Download the RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) file Note: Make sure your computer is connected to “ubcsecure” wireless network when on campus before connecting to the Sauder’s Remote Desktop Server. For off Campus connection, make sure your computer is connected to UBC Virtual Private Network (myVPN) first before connecting to the Remote Desktop Server. 2.1 Check with your instructor which Remote Desktop Server you are assigned. Start a Web browser (e.g. Safari, Chrome, and Firefox), and then visit the following Web site accordingly: 1. https://saud-srds1p.ead.ubc.ca/RDWeb 2. https://saud-srds2p.ead.ubc.ca/RDWeb 3. https://saud-srds3p.ead.ubc.ca/RDWeb Note: Since you are connecting to a remote server, there might be a few seconds delay before the next step on the instructions will display.

2.2 Logon to the server by entering your CWL (Campus Wide Login ) credentials with the “.stu” extension: -
Domain\user name: ead\CWL.stu Password: your password
2.3 Double click “Access 2016” to download the RDP file named “cpub-MSACCESSQuickSessionCollection-CmsRdsh.rdp”.

2.4 A Window will display prompting to open the file with Microsoft Remote Desktop. Select OK.
2.5 The file will be downloaded to your default download folder. You may want to copy it from the download folder to you desktop for easy access.
3. Connect to the RDP Server 3.1 After you opened the downloaded, RDP file “cpub-MSACCESSQuickSessionCollection-CmsRdsh.rdp”, you may see a warning message “Do you trust the publisher of this RemoteApp Program?". If you see this message select Connect, otherwise go to the next step, 3.2.

3.2 Click Connect to continue. Then enter the domain name “ead”, CWL.stu ID and password to connect to the RDP server. Click OK.
3.3 This will open MS Access.

4. Saving your files 4.1 Make sure to save your data to your local desktop. Data saved on the Remote Desktop Server will be purged.
5. Reconnecting to the RDP Server 5.1 To reconnect to the server again, open the RDP file “cpub-MSACCESSQuickSessionCollection-CmsRdsh.rdp” saved on your desktop or default download folder. Enter your “CWL.stu” credentials. This should open MS Access.
