Teichmann 1 Lily Teichmann Yucan Chiu Field Practicum September, 2020 Introducing Nice White Parents For this week’s reflection I chose the New York Times podcast and article “Introducing Nice White Parents”. The podcast was about being a white parent in the New York City public schools and the podcaster, Chana Joffe-Walt, a reporter and parent to New York public school children, chose to focus on one school and her experience watching it transform and battle social, economic, and racial issues. I liked that part of her podcast was not only sharing the inequality she witnessed first-hand and giving a very realistic narrative of what happened, but also shared and encourage other parents or any other members in the community to get involved and push for positive change in their local government. Throughout the podcasts she shared several resources and strategies she used to get in contact with people in positions of power so that the listeners could feel inspired to make a difference about an inequality or fault that they feel passionate about....
