Issue Analysis Paper Ideas 1. How Donald Trump Keeps Changing His Mind on Abortion, Torture and Banning Muslims By ALAN RAPPEPORT and MAGGIE HABERMAN JUNE 29, 2016 http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/30/us/politics/donald-trump-flip-flop.html?ref=politics&_r=0 This article demonstrates Donald Trump’s inconsistencies in his prospective policies. From the Muslim Ban to Abortion, Minimum Wage, Gay Rights and Torture, this article goes to show that in today’s society, political figures constantly changing their opinions will be noticed because with media, everything is recorded. Videos of press conferences, tweets, interviews with people like Jake Tapper, Anderson Cooper and even Jimmy Fallon - his opinions have been broadcasted worldwide for over 25 years and so now, people have started to question where he really stands. If I were to use this article for my paper, I might argue that Donald Trump seems to change his views in correlation with the views of the likely Trump voters, public opinion and the worries of our society. 1. Analyzing the Media’s Role in the Political Process By MATTHEW  LYNCH NOVEMBER 11th, 2011 | Updated JAN 11, 2012 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/matthew-lynch-edd/analyzing-the-medias-role_b_1083914.html This article speaks about the role of the press and what influence it has on the political system. It elaborates on the increasingly problematic issues with the media such as the lack of objective and impartial reporting. Leaning towards one side of the political spectrum rather than the other, in many instances, and therefore, the information we read is ‘at best provide relatively biased coverage or at worse act like virtual propaganda machines for a particular political party.’ It also explains that there is a ‘thin line’ distinguishing healthy debate from active intervention, claiming that it is not a rare occasion for a news media organization to cross this line. And finally, it concludes that media empires, individuals who have managed to take control over ‘vast amounts of media assets’ have dominated and continue to dominate a large majority of the mainstream broadcast networks. Unfortunately, they often utilize them to influence the public opinion and give, in some cases, a distorted sense of reality; therefore, we can take away from this that it is very important to not always trust our media to correctly inform us on the political and newsworthy issues that we feel strongly about.
