PART I: 1. Shaky hands, she is thin, bulging eyes, can’t retain information, stressed, and sleep deprived. 2. I think she may be suffering from a stress induced issue that is also affecting her cognitive abilities. PART II: 1. The thyroid is located at the anterior of the body. It is wrapped around the trachea. 2. Calcitonin, thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) 3. The antibodies attack the muscles surrounding the eye causing her eye to slightly peturde out of her eye socket or bulge. 4. She most likely has a goiter. 5. Most likely hyperactive because her thyroid is secreting too many hormones. 6. If Ellie has an hyperactive thyroid then there would be more TSH. If she has a hypoactive thyroid then there is not enough TSH. PART III: 1. She most likely has Graves disease which is an autoimmune disease which means she has antibodies attacking her thyroid. 2. No, because TSH is not a hormone. Rather it is a hormone released by the anterior pituitary to stimulate the thyroid to release hormones which in her cause her thyroid is making too much of. Ellie’s TSH level is low because she is producing too much of the T3 and T4 hormone, which is stimulating the hypothalamus to stop production of TRH, which in turn would inhibit the production of TSH. ...
